Top Black Women Business Owners The Privileged Few...13 Factors Why

Top Black women business owners..they are the few, the fortunate, and the lucky. They are the chosen ones fed with a silver spoon. We all know it is hard out there. The white man’s conspiracy to keep us down. Becoming a top black women business owner is equivalent to climbing Mt. Everest. How many minorities do you know that has even thought about climbing a hill not to mention a mountain, the closest we come to a mountain are the rocks in the parking lots.

Some people are just born to be great. You know they come from that perfect family, Mom, dad, 2.5 kids. Mom’s an attorney and dad’s a doctor …yep the Cosby’s. Better yet, they come from a family of wealth, like the Kennedy’s, Johnson’s or Bronners. See if they had backgrounds like us, the average black woman or man, I bet ‘cha they would have never gotten to the top.

Those escaped few don’t know what it’s like to have a hungry day let alone a hungry week. They wouldn’t have a clue how to survive in the real world. A hunger pain would probably give them a coronary infarction . I bet they never had to sop up gravy with a biscuit. Of course not, they are too busy hob nobing with their friends tasting beche de mer, plate, and vegan dishes.

Unfortunately, there are many sad stories about our race, the African American culture. Today… it’s time to turn the table. Follow me as we discuss why our black women business owners are ranking high on the economic scale and how you can do the same. Regardless to any exterior conditions you can adopt these 11 mindset principles:

11 Characteristics of the way Winners Think…Champions

There you are, some of the mindset principles that top black women business owners, consciously or unconsciously, implement to achieve their success. Remember, you will not achieve your dreams by hoping, wishing and praying only. Our creator wants us to have the desires of our heart but also wants us to move our feet.

Be careful as to what you listen to, guard your ears and your eyes. Take advice from those with positive experiences. Disappointment will come your way but that’s part of the journey. You get disappointed now, at least with success or money you can be disappointed in style.

Don’t forget, nothing happens until you make it happen. You won’t reach your dreams or goals by osmosis. Even if you are below broke, abused, disgusted or busted. All things are possible. Think about those that came before you… Oprah Winfrey, Jennifer Hudson, Mo’Nique, Tyler Perry etc. What’s the difference…they took action and developed the winning mindset as they went along.

Remember opportunity knocks… not beat down your door …opportunities are never missed… you just missed out! Being broke doesn’t make you poor. Poor is a mindset , broke is a temporary inconvenience. Try a local chapter of NAWBO, my mom's a member and they are awesome people. It is a truly wonderful networking community where women biz owners support each other.

    Try this: http://www.nawbo.org/

Other than being a male model, women can do pretty much any job that a man can do.

I may be wrong, but more than 50% of the world's poulation is female, so, how does that make you a 'minority'?

It is nice when a woman dresses up for her man on occasion. You don't have to wear a business suit, you can wear a dress. Show some bare leg sometimes.

While there may be a few isolated cases of sex discrimination, the numbers are largely due to the fact that only that many women have the drive for positions like that.

Yes, search it by Karstadt, C & A and Kaufhof Galeria. C & A is cheaper than the other two. These have reasonable prices than Botigue stores.

In highschool, you should try to take some accounting courses and some marketing courses, as well as as many math courses as you can squeeze in. After that, you can get in to most colleges or universities, however, I recommend looking up a specific program you want and making sure you achieve the entrance requirements. Where in Canada are you? If you're in BC, I highly recommend going to BCIT for business, its an excellent school with very applicable courses and a lot of hands-on experience.

It is hard to find grants to start a business. Unlike the myths that some perpetuate, federal government and even private foundations hardly give grant money for starting a for-profit business.

One possible exception is for companies developing or exporting agricultural goods, including food and forest product. Another exception could be the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) or Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs http://www.sba.gov/aboutsba/sbaprograms/sbir/index.html , which fund the research and development of technological innovation that meets specific government needs.

Your best bet actually will be from the states if they offer grant programs for women (or any other special interest groups — minorities, women, disabled, veterans, etc). Or check with non profit organizations, particularly women organizations if they offer grants. Examples include

    Iowa Women's Foundation http://www.iawf.org/
    New Mexico Women's Foundation http://www.nmwf.org/guidelines.html

Even SBA does NOT give out grants. From the SBA website http://www.sba.gov/mostrequesteditems/CON_FAQ2.html

"The U.S. Small Business Administration does not offer grants to start or expand small businesses, although it does offer a wide variety of loan programs. (See http://www.sba.gov/financing for more information) While SBA does offer some grant programs, these are generally designed to expand and enhance organizations that provide small business management, technical, or financial assistance. These grants generally support non-profit organizations, intermediary lending institutions, and state and local governments."

Nonetheless, you can go to the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) http://www.cfda.gov and Grants.gov http://www.grants.gov – these are two sites created by the federal government to provide transparency and information on grants. Browse through the listings and see if you can find any grant that would support a for-profit venture.

Here is a listing of federal grants for small businesses. See if there is any available for individuals for starting a business — THERE'S NONE.
    http://12.46.245.173/pls/portal30/CATALOG.BROWSE_BENEF_RPT.show

Most of the federal grants are given to specific target groups with specific requirements (e.g. minority business owners involved in transportation related contracts emanating from DOT – Grant#20.905 Disadvantaged Business Enterprises Short Term Lending Program

Grants are also often given to non profit groups or organizations involved in training or other similar activities (grant 59.043 Women's Business Ownership Assistance that are given to those who will create women's business center that will train women entrepreneurs
