Some Don’ts In Business Networking

Some Don’ts In Business Networking

People usually meet in business networking meetings and functions. These functions have a lot to offer those in search of networking and making new contacts and connections. Business events prove to be an effective platform to start new relationship. You cannot make a long lasting and strong relation at a business meeting. The reason is because business events have very distracting environments for the relationships to be built. People meeting with each other and having gossips, food is being served and presentations or something of entertainments is going on in parallel with each other.

So these events do not offer you the best place to have practically personal connection. You just meet other people for some moments and get apart. After the first meeting at these events people tend o follow up the relation and try to be the first to contact the other party. They send personalized follow up messages to show a willingness and pleasure to continue the relation. But it is not necessary that all of them will respond to your follow up messages. All the people are not ready to reciprocate and give the same response in return. There could be any reason behind this. But the thing is, they do not see something of great value in cherishing the relation. So the point is that you should follow up and make certain attempts. But do not try more than three times. Use at least two different tools to send your message to the person. If the person does not respond let the time pass. These kinds of opportunities will come again and again in life. So don’t worry and be positive.

Persistence and determination are said to be the foundation and the winning points in business networking. It is usually said that have patience and be persistent in following up the people after the initial meeting. But a point comes when this persistent and continuous follow up converts in to a reason of irritation and annoyance for the recipient. Put yourself in the other person’s place and jut think of how many times you can bear someone following you up and trying to contact you continuously. Once your follow up becomes the reason of irritation, you created a very wrong image which is impossible to correct now. So do not be stalker and do not be hungry for networking. Getting to know someone takes enough time and people trust only those whom they know. This approach tells integrity and it speaks about patience.

Don’t lie and be genuine. Remember that networking is all about building long lasting relationships. And people build relationship with those people, they trust. So be genuine in stating or reflecting your desired outcomes and your strengths. Don’t lie about yourself. Trust is the pillar on which any relationship stands. So always remember the value of trust in business networking.

Don’t conjecture for a job. Don’t just think of the profits of networking to pay you quickly but also think about the people.

Dr. Misner has been the visionary & brand leader for local, SMBs for decades. These 10 commandments are essential.

What tools might allow networkers to multiply the effectiveness of the time they spend meeting face-to-face with fellow business owners? How can they interconnect with each others’ networks to generate & track more referrals?

This would multiply the value of their chapter membership while validating their investment.

    Hey,

Recently, i've been using http://meetup.com to find business or entrepreneur related groups in my local area. I only went to one, but I managed to network with 2 people I intend to maintain a relationship with.

It sounds difficult, but when all of you are searching for business networking, it makes the process much easier.

    Best of luck!

Take it off. Most transactions and correspondence is done electronically. Put an email, website, and mobile number on there with some clever artwork. That should be sufficient. No one needs to know where you live.

Plus… if you move, you won't have to reorder new cards!

1.8% per day compounded means £1 becomes £660.98 at the end of a year :-)

You will soon find out how 'real' they are when you try to withdraw your £660.98 at the end of the year :-)

    Hi
I suggest you to do what Henry recommends in his answer. Meeting people that are experts in mentoring new entrepreneurs to start a business is a great way to start.

I also recommend you to read about what does it take to start a business. You don't need always to have the money yourself. You could partner other people who have the financial resources if you can show a convincing business plan where they can see when the business starts to make profits. Then you could offer part of the profits in exchange for their investment in your business.

One of my favorite books that has helped me a lot is "Entrepreneurship 101" By Michael E. Gordon . I warmly recommend you it to read

    Wishing you big success

One of the most important social media tools you can sign up for right now is LinkedIn. In today’s market, it’s a tool you cannot afford to ignore.

LinkedIn lets you post your work experience in a familiar resume format, connect with and manage your professional contacts and promote your skill sets in real time.

LinkedIn isn’t just for looking for the next job, it’s also about branding yourself with potential future employers and your professional peers within your industry. Interactive features allow your contacts to also post recommendations that can be seen be anyone who views your profile.

I’ve been on LinkedIn for a couple of years now and use the site as a new rolodex, or a way to manage my professional contacts. It’s also helped me find out more about people I do business with, but there is so much more I could be doing.

Join as many groups as you can, offcourse keeping in mind your area of developement. Search Groups of Marketing, Advertising, Networking and so on. Good Luck!

Your cable plan probably doesn't include it. Check to see if you can upgrade to a cable plan that does include it.

Have you checked your local Chamber of Commerce website?

Go to http://www.chamberofcommerce.com/public/index.cfm? and put in your city and state. That should bring up the Chamber of Commerce location closest to you.

While joining the Chamber often entails a fee, there should be other information on your local Chamber website about free to the public events that are specifically designed for networking.

    Hope that Helps!
