Tips For Victorious Business Networking
By admin | December 7, 2009
People usually ask about effective business networking tips and tactics. But business networking is an art in itself. It does not have thumb rule or universally applicable principles like science. Business networking is effective when you do it in creative ways to make yourself stand apart from the rest of the audience. Networking is successful when you do right according to the demands of situation and the people. Creative and sincere networking is, in fact, successful networking. Although networking does not require any thumb rule, yet we can follow certain basics and guidelines which may, at least, make us learn.
Make your purpose clear to you before going to the event. Be prepared and do your home work. You might be going for expanding your business friends’ circle, to learn new ideas or to introduce a new idea of a product or service.
Put your purpose on the business card. If you are looking some clients for your business, you must put your business details on the card. It will help the people remember you.
Always be punctual and arrive the venue at time. Don’t be late as you break the flow of meeting this way. More important reason is that by arriving late you miss the chance of talking to new people before the commencement of meeting. These are few moments when all other attendees are free and alone and looking for someone to talk. Don’t leave the meeting early as well. People who have heard your presentation would want to talk to you about your ideas.
Another tip is to wear your name tag on the right side. By doing so people meeting you and coming across you can see the tag clearly and easily. It also increases the probability for them to retain you in their memory.
Do a firm and open hearted handshake. The very first impression, you will put on the other person, will be through your handshake style. It should be firm enough to show your liveliness but not bone-shaking as well. Nor it should be lose like a wilted or limp fish. Do some preparation and practice handshake with a friend before arriving on the venue.
When you get a chance to speak out, it’s the right time to grab attention and to win the game. While speaking, speak very clearly and concisely. Words should be clear to reach and understood by everyone. Put emphasis on the words or message you think is more important. Respect other people’s time by ending the speech in the given limited time.
While talking to other people or delivering your speech, look around in the room. Make an eye contact with those listening to you but don’t stare. Try to give personal attention to every person in the room.
At the end of business meeting you surely get business cards. But business networking does not mean taking cards from every one and then following up all of them. This is not business. Just follow up those who are of your interest.

Dr. Misner has been the visionary & brand leader for local, SMBs for decades. These 10 commandments are essential.
What tools might allow networkers to multiply the effectiveness of the time they spend meeting face-to-face with fellow business owners? How can they interconnect with each others’ networks to generate & track more referrals?
This would multiply the value of their chapter membership while validating their investment.

You shouldn't be skeptical at all. What business is he going to show you? Networking businesses can be benefitial both finanically as well as personally. I've been in network marketing for years and it gives people a huge income opportunity. What most people don't understand is that it's a business, not a job. You have to build a business which takes some time, but the opportunity is incredible to be able to become wealthy as long as you follow a curtain pattern that each business has put together. Do not diviate from the ones that are successful and you will become successful. I came across a blog that will help you understand a lot of different things regarding these types of businesses. They're incredible. I suggest you go and listen to the opportunity and ask questions and see if it's something for you. There is no harm in that, it's not going to cost you anything to take a look, so what's the problem? If you want to do business with them, then do it, if you don't want to then just simply say no thank you. But at least take a look at the opportunity and see what type of business and what's involved. that's the best advice I can give you.
Here's a blog you can take a look at that will give you some information about your questions.

Hi Jon,
The list is fairly long, but here are a few starting points.
Get connected with other folks at http://www.linkedin.com and also consider searching on "business communities" for others.
Consider getting involved with Business Forums and raise the awareness there about your website.
Consider writing articles about business communities and other topics that will show you are an expert on this topic. These can then be distributed through article submission websites.
Consider writing a news release and distribute it through the Internent news network with sites like http://www.prweb.com or http://www.prleap.com.
This merely a starting point and it will require time and manual labor to get through this. There really isn't a single quick fix solution as you are competing against other social communities.
Good luck.

You can research some of the underlining statistics regarding the fact that most of the people who play golf are businesspeople. Checkout some national golfing magazines for some inspiration.
All the best to you.

The most open one I have found is a new one called Rebja Business Network http://rebja.com
They have lots of small businesses and most of them are open to networking without creating a hierarchy.
The site is all business owners rather than employees of companies and they are extremely helpful.
Great site!
